The Grand Rapids art gallery is the center of LaFontsee’s year-round flagship location. Located in the heart of Grand Rapids, the gallery serves individual collectors, interior designers, and those exploring contemporary art in West Michigan, with a focus on thoughtful selection and long-term collecting.
Custom framing in Grand Rapids is produced on site in the gallery’s framing workshop, where all measuring, cutting, and assembly are completed by the LaFontsee team. The gallery offers custom framing and fine art framing for contemporary art, photography, works on paper, and personal pieces, supporting residential, corporate, healthcare, and institutional settings.
The Grand Rapids location also serves as a hub for art consulting. LaFontsee works with individual collectors, interior designers, corporations, healthcare organizations, and institutions on residential, commercial, and commissioned projects, providing guidance on artwork selection, placement, and long-term planning across West Michigan, Detroit, Chicago, and beyond.
In addition to gallery and project work, the Grand Rapids location houses LaFontsee’s art storage and operates as a working art archive. With an average of 3,000 works of art stored on site, the gallery supports collectors and organizations with depth, continuity, and professional stewardship of contemporary art.
About our upcoming move
In 2025, LaFontsee Galleries will relocate to 1504 Plainfield Avenue NE in Grand Rapids’ Creston neighborhood.
Originally built in 1929 as the DeKorne Furniture Company showroom, the building was designed to present well-made objects with care and clarity. Its large windows, wood floors, and open interior reflect an approach to display grounded in material quality and thoughtful design.
LaFontsee’s move builds on this history, returning the space to its original purpose as a place for considered viewing and exchange. Situated along Plainfield Avenue, long known as a corridor of local commerce and creative work, the new location supports the gallery’s continued focus on contemporary art, custom framing, and art consulting within a setting shaped by design and public life.

Parking at the Grand Rapids gallery is easy and accessible, with a large private parking lot available for visitors. The gallery’s accessible entrance is located at the upper level near the glass gallery entrance, providing step-free access into the space. The lower entrance is also available for general entry.
